2023
2rd Paris Hong Kong Film Festival in Paris & Annecy
From October 12th to 17th, CUBE successfully organized the 2nd edition of the Hong Kong Film Festival of Paris (FFHKP) at the Cinéma l’Epée de Bois in the 5th arrondissement. The FFHKP featured 5 feature films in their original version with French subtitles: "The Sparring Partners" (opening), "My Prince Edward," "The Narrow Road," "Still Human," and "Blue Island" (closing), along with a retrospective of Ebola Syndrome in collaboration with the French distributor Spectrum. To better introduce Hong Kong culture to the French audience, 4 post-screening debates with the presence of the directors and a Hong Kong researcher (online) were organized. Furthermore, in collaboration with the Free Conservatory of French Cinema, CUBE organized a competition for independent short films to preserve and promote the free creation of Hong Kong filmmakers. The FFHKP recorded approximately 68% (on average) of audience attendance with a demographic of 77% French audience, 11% Taiwanese audience, 9% Chinese audience, and 3% Hong Kong or other varied foreign audience. On October 15th, CUBE organized a Master-Class artist meeting with Mr. Anthony WONG (online) in the 2nd arrondissement; about 40 people were present that day. From November 11th to 12th, CUBE organized an extension of the FFHK in Annecy in collaboration with the Auditorium Seynod. 4 films were screened: "The Sparring Partners," "Infernal Affairs," "Limbo," and "Still Human."
Collaboration with CinéScred: Screening of the classic Hong Kong film - "Infernal Affairs".
On June 20th, CinéScred organized a screening of the classic Hong Kong film "Infernal Affairs" at the Centre Anim’Curial in the 19th arrondissement. Admission was free, and the screening was intended to introduce the foreign cinema to the audience of the 19th arrondissement. Therefore, the screening was followed by a debate, in which Mr. YEUNG Kenneth, as a representative of CUBE, was invited to discuss the future of Hong Kong cinema under the current political pressure. There were approximately 50-60 local attendees that evening.
The art residency "Community of Time" with la Générale.
From July 5th to 16th, CUBE collaborated with La Générale to organize an art residency called "Community of Time," in which three artists participated for the exchange of ideas and experimental collective creation. On July 16th, both associations held an opening day to present the (ongoing) works of these three artists; approximately 70-80 people attended the event.
